Burha Chapori is a part of the Laokhowa-Burhachapori eco-system and comprises of a mosaic of wet alluvial grassland, riparian and semi-ever systems. This sanctuary is home to Great Indian one-horned rhinoceros, tiger, leopard, wild buffalo, hog deer, wild pig and elephants. The sanctuary’s avian diversity is equally impressive and is home to critically important species such as the Bengal Florican, Black-necked Stork, Mallard, Open-billed Stork, Teal and Whistling Duck, among many others. The expansive grasslands are rich in medicinal herbs and plant species, a adding to the ecological value of the area. It is also an ideal breeding ground for numerous migratory birds that arrive during winter season, making Burha Chapori a significant habitat for both resident and migrant wildlife.
