Deepor Beel is a permanent fresh water lake located about 10 km Southwest of Guwahati city. It also functions as the major storm water storage basin for the city. Apart from this it has got other biological and environmental importance too. This is a prominent staging site for migratory birds. Apart from being the only Ramsar site in Assam it is also included among Important Bird Area (IBA) sites by Birdlife International.
A half day visit to this fresh water lake will be sufficient to cover Deepor Beel.
