Tezpur has a lot of significant tourist spots such as Agnigarh, Da-Parbatiya Gate, Bamuni Hills, Mahabhairav Temple, Bhairavi Temple, Ouguri Hill, Cole Park or Chitralekha Udyan, Padum Lake, Poki and the District Museum. Tezpur and its adjoining areas is in itself a very prominent destination for pilgrimage. It has a host of revered pilgrimage places throughout the district starting from Mahabhairav Temple to Gupteswar Temple from the medieval period and ancient ruins of Viswakarmas Temples at Singri along with the Naleswar Devalaya, Hinguleswar Devalaya, Ketekeswar Devalaya, Hudupora Than, Bhairabi Temple, Haleswar than and many other sacred places.

One can also go for a daylong excursion to Bhalukpong which is 63 km from Tezpur. Bhalukpong is located on the Assam Arunachal border and nestled in the southern reaches of Himalayan foothills. The majestic river Jia Bhoroli flows beside and added to it are the enchanting views of the towering lush green hills of Arunachal Pradesh. One can enjoy riverside trekking. Assam Tourism Development Corporation has a Tourism Complex at Bhalukpong with around 23 rooms including some beautiful cottages overlooking the river and the green hills. A daylong excursion to BuraChapori/Laokhowa wildlife sanctuary can also certainly be fitted into the itinerary. BuraChapori/Laokhowa wildlife sanctuary is located 40 km from Tezpur town on the southern bank of river Brahmaputra and covers 114.19sq km. Both form an integral part of the Laokhowa-BuraChapori eco-system and is a notified buffer zone of the Kaziranga Tiger Reserve. It’s a bird watcher paradise with many migratory birds flocking the sanctuary. It is also home to rhinos, tigers, leopards, Asiatic wild buffalo, hog deer, wild pig and elephants.

Jeep safaris are available, and lunch can be arranged inside the sanctuary in a forest camp with advance notice. One can also plan a trip to Kanoka Village Resort, the newest tourist destination in Sonitpur district, which is 60 kilometers from Tezpur. It’s a lovely spot in the midst of a village tea garden, surrounded by a dense canopy of trees.
