Sri Sri Madhab Than
Sri Sri Madhab Than is situated on the river bank of Borpani at the edges of Madhab Pahar (hill) under Kampur revenue circle. As per the myth, in the era of Mahabharata, a small kingdom named Pramila was ruled by women. No male were allowed to enter the kingdom. When the horse as part of the ASWAMEDH JAGYA of Arjuna entered this kingdom, the women soldiers defeated the horse and kept it as captive. Later, Lord Krishna negotiated with the queen of Pramila kingdom and upon convincing the Queen, freed the horse. A shrine dedicated to Lord Vishnu (Madhab) was built up where Lord Krishna and Arjuna took rest, at the later period of 11th - 12th century that remains a place of great worship. Here some footprints of Lord Vishnu (Madhab), ancient sculptures, idols and some inscriptions on the stones are found. A large number of devotees visit this place across the state.
