Navagraha Temple

The Navagraha temple or the shrine of nine planets a temple that defined Guwahati as Pragjyotishpur meaning the city of astrology shares a folkloric belief that Lord Brahma created the stars and nine planets while meditating here and was definitely a hub of astronomy and astrology in the early times. The Navagraha Temple is situated on a hill named Chitrachal in the south eastern part of the city of Guwahati. The present structure of the temple was built by Ahom king Rajeswar Singha in the 18th century.
