Bharali Namghar

Situated at Hatbor, Bharali village, Bharali Namghar is a widely venerated space. As per the sources, the Namghar was destroyed and burnt down during Burmese invasion of Assam and was later rebuilt by the local people. The main pillar Lai Khuta, of the Namghar is made of age old Tulsi tree (Holy Basil) that adds to the attraction of the Namghar. Held with great reverence, visitors firmly believe that the prayer offering never goes in vain here. Magh purnima or Makar Sankranti is considered as a very auspicious day and scores of people gather here for their religious offerings. The Vaishnavite tradition of Naam - Prasanga (Common Prayer) and Bhaona (Theatrical Performance) on the occasion of the birth anniversaries of the saint poet and preacher Srimanta Sankaradeva and his principal apostle Sri Sri Madhavadeva are regularly presented.
