The Batadrava Than also Known as Bordowa Than, the birthplace of the great saint poet, preacher and social reformer, Mahapurush Srimanta Sankaradeva (1449-1568) who was the fountainhead of the great Bhakti resurgence in Assam. The Than founded by the great saint in 1494 AD holds immense importance for Vaishnavite followers of Assam. The Guru also founded the first Kirtan Ghar at Bordowa to practice and propound the ideals of Bhakti faith during the fifteenth century in Assam and propagated the EK SARAN NAAM DHARMA. The uniquely designed sanctum, the Monikut and the Namghar as a congregational prayer space in the villages of Assam are also creations of the great thinker and philosopher Srimanta Sankaradeva. People believe Bordowa Than as the Dwitiya Baikuntha, the second heaven on earth and frequently visit this place for their spiritual offerings. A festival of Doul Mahotsav (Holi) is an annual attraction for the devotees in Bordowa.
