There are few things you need to take care of before coming to India

Time Zone

Indian standard Time (1ST) is 5 1/2 hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time and 10 1/2 hours ahead of US Eastern Standard Time. 1ST is 4 1/2 hours behind Australian Eastern Standard Time, 3 1/2 hours behind Japanese Standard Time and 1 1/2 hours behind Thai Standard Time, Despite its vast geographical territory, lndia has just one time zone and no daylight saving time in summer.


The Indian currency is called the Rupee, and is available in denominations of 1000, 500, 100, 50, 20, 10, 5, 2, 1. All major international credit cards
including Visa, Amex, Mastercard,Diners Club are used.
Banks are open from 10 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday to Friday, and 10 AM to 1 PM on Saturdays; most of them remain closed on Sundays and national holidays.
All big towns and cities are dotted with ATM’s (automated teller machines). However, when travelling to remote areas it is advisable to carry cash.


For travel health, it is advisable to be careful about the food and carry your own mineral water. Guard against sun-stroke and dehydration especially if you are travelling during the summer months. It would be useful to keep a packet of Electrol or any oral rehydration salts along with you and at the first sign of any kind of fatigue or dehydration to mix its contents in water and keep slipping it frequently.

Malaria is a problem in India during the rainy season. So, if you are coming at that time of the year, do consult your doctor for precautionary anti-malaria medication and use mosquito repellents.
